The Company
Global Grain Australia Pty Ltd. is a subsidiary of Paterson GlobalFoods Inc., a family owned corporation with holdings in Canada and Australia. Established in 1908, the Corporation has a long history in the grain industry and operates under several subsidiaries and brands within the grain, food and transportation industries.
The Challenge
As a result of growth opportunity and expansion, the company is adding a new commodity trading position in its Melbourne office responsible for pulse crops trading. We currently service the Australian market with a range of organic and food products, as well as exporting a comprehensive range of grains and oilseeds to various Asian and European markets. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will be responsible for the purchase and sale of pulses, as well as overseeing the contract process and logistics necessary to complete transactions. The candidate will have experience in running an established 'book' of business with comprehensive contacts on both the sale and procurement sides. On a weekly basis you will deal with international customers and international travel will be required periodically.
The Skills
The role requires an individual with proven trading skills and marketing experience in container export markets and the domestic trading market. An in-depth knowledge of the Australian grain industry including logistics, accumulation, packing and storage and handling is essential. Applicants must be self motivated, able to work in a small team environment, and have strong negotiation and risk management skills. Our ideal candidate has a post-secondary degree in Agribusiness or Commerce with a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in domestic and export commodity trading.
